Spring brings out the pink beauty of this flowering crab tree.  The flowers last for only a short time, just until the spring winds tease the petals from the tree and carpet the ground in glorious pink.

Here is the original photo - a handmade bowl, a forged steel heart, flowers clipped from the backyard crabapple tree, and my grandmother's doily.
