Beyond Beyond Day 19 – Kim’s Beach and My Style
This week’s task was to alter Kim Klassen’s beach photograph. It always feels a little bit “wrong” to take
one of Kim’s beautiful photos and change it – below is Kim’s original and then
my version.
I love
this quote of Eleanor Roosevelt. I tried to give Kim’s photo a dreamlike
feel. The right side is a pencil sketch idea
of a dream and, moving to the left, the realization of that dream. The
pencil sketch technique is in the Sept/Oct issue of Adobe Photoshop Elements magazine.
My Style
I don’t know that I have a style, but I do like taking
photos of the plants and wildlife in my backyard. Below is a favorite of mine – a wild bird
bath party.Friday, June 7, 2013
Friday Finds - Handmade Love
I’ve been on the look-out for an old dressmaker’s form, or
some other structure, that I could dress up with scarves and jewelry to photograph.
Last weekend my mom and aunt were planning a trip to the
flea market. I asked my mom to keep an
eye out for a form that might work for me.
These two clever and talented women made one! I cannot believe that they made this!
First they tea stained the fabric and created a pattern; they
sewed and stuffed the body. And then they crafted a wooden base from a broom
handle and scrap wood.
Truly an amazing treasure!

Texture Tuesday - Spring
I used two layers of Kim Klassen’s 1402 texture on this photo

Spring brings out the pink beauty of this flowering crab tree.
The flowers last for only a short time, just
until the spring winds tease the petals from the tree and carpet the ground in
glorious pink.
